A PARALYSED pensioner was left stranded on a life support machine in a Greek hospital because of a shortage of North Wales intensive care beds it was confirmed yesterday.

�The improvement in Mr Sanger�s condition meant that full intensive care facilities are no longer required and the hospital has been able allocate a bed in the high dependency unit to enable his safe return to Wrexham.�

Gaynor Sanger, 67, said yesterday: �I am very happy to be home. It has been a long and difficult month � I never ever expected I would be away so long.

�Now that I am home I have so much family support for myself and for Geoff, it will really help at this difficult time.

�I am sure he knows he is back, he is now in a stable condition and the family is just hoping he can start making a recovery.

�It is just nice to be able to go to our own home after a month in an hotel.
